Life for the dead

Even according to official figures, tens of thousands of mostly young Russians die every year as a result of drug and alcohol abuse.

It is to be assumed that the number of unreported cases is considerably higher. Not expressed by the figures is the immeasurable suffering in the families of the addicts and the economic losses caused by the "widespread disease" of addiction. Very early on, AVC flanked its evangelism and church planting projects with social projects aimed at rehabilitation. Over the years, rehab centers have been established in many regions of Russia.

The goals of the rehab centers with the rehabilitants are:
- to get free from addiction,
- to find a new direction in life,
- to learn conflict skills in the residential community in order to integrate into society,
- to learn a regular daily routine,
- to master the contact with authorities by oneself, to establish the ability to work or to make an education possible.

The very successful therapy consists of two phases: the rehabilitation phase and the adaptation phase. At the beginning, withdrawal is carried out and a new living environment is learned. The second part is preparation for a new, meaningful and independent life in society.
