Kosovo

»The question is not if, but when war will break out« - this statement from our partner describes the current situation in Kosovo. The young state is a powder keg. It is fighting challenges on various fronts. The independence from Serbia proclaimed in 2008 is still not universally recognized. Various tensions and outbreaks of violence over the past year have contributed to uncertainty among the population.

MORE THAN JUST RELIEF SUPPLIES
In the meantime, six second-hand stores have been established in Kosovo. Our local partner divides our relief supplies according to necessities - part is given directly to those in need, and the other part is supplied to these stores. The stores create jobs and finance various local projects, such as engagement among the Roma or the support of needy families with food and hygiene products.
HOUSE OF HOPE
The children flock to the "House of Hope" directly after school. There they wait impatiently in front of the door until the program finally starts. Dancing to joyful music, the children are welcomed and the next hour will be filled with games, crafts and Bible stories. But the "Houses of Hope" offer even more. Sewing classes for women, language courses, tutoring and much more are offered at various locations.
