Lack of work and prospects drive young and old into addiction and despair. Individual Christian initiatives are actively trying to counteract this problem and are an impressive example of how, even in difficult circumstances, one can serve society in a very practical way and reach people with the Gospel.

In addition to these »internal« problems, countless people from the Middle East are crossing the Balkan route on their way towards Western Europe. Many of them stay in Serbia for long periods of time because of the closed EU borders. Often they fall into the hands of traffickers and are completely at their mercy. Many of these people live for a long time in refugee camps in miserable living conditions and despair, without any perspective.
