Churchplanting under the Dagaari

There are several subgroups. The Dagaari Lobi, for example, number around 50,000 people. More than 400 villages are inhabited by them - but at the beginning there was no church in any of these villages. Our partner is based in Gaoua in the south-west of the country. From there, he regularly visits the villages of the Dagaari, as far as the border areas of Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana. The evangelisation is supported by the distribution of parcels provided by Samaritan's Purse.

Almost ten villages have now been reached. In three of them, churches have already been built for the newly founded communities. In other villages, the believers meet in the open air, in the shade of a tree. The largest community now has over one hundred members. Regular visits and discipleship courses strengthen the young churches and promote their growth.

A missionary Bible school teaches the basics for the work of the pioneers. Four missionary couples with a Dagaari background have completed their three-year training and will be sent out this year. Further cohorts are already in training or registered. So far, the facilities of an orphanage have been used as living quarters and classrooms. The construction of suitable premises is urgently needed to expand the work.
