Sport Opens Hearts

CENTRAL ASIA
The youth group of a partner church recently organized a football tournament. Most participants were not Christians. What they experienced left a lasting impression.

From early morning, the field filled with young people from different cities. The matches were played with full commitment, yet what mattered most was how everyone treated one another. Respect, fairness, and encouragement shaped every game. Not a single insult was heard throughout the entire tournament. For many spectators, this was both unusual and deeply impressive.

During the breaks, conversations began that quickly went beyond sport. Some young people spoke about being hurt by parents or friends, others about lacking direction and purpose. As the day went on, hearts opened. Conversations turned into moments of prayer. Several participants expressed a desire to visit the church on Sunday.

Sometimes a simple football tournament is enough to reach people who might otherwise seem out of reach.
