A God Who Listens

Participant Michelle shares: »One of AVC's projects in Moldova is a home for people with disabilities. Pastor Viktor told us how, shortly after construction began, he received word that the building would have to be returned to the state, even though the building permit had already been granted. He was deeply shaken. At first he didn't want to tell anyone, choosing instead to trust in God's intervention. He began to fast. On the eleventh day, he heard a name he had never encountered before. It turned out to belong to a member of parliament who was also head of the intelligence service. Viktor reached out to him and explained his situation. And sure enough, with this man's help, he managed to get the building back.«

Participant Salome shares: »My personal highlight was the kids' camp. Since we didn't speak the local language, we could barely talk with the children. Even so, we had so much joy together. On the last evening, the children got to choose gifts. One boy picked out a Playmobil set and a Bible. We read it together. I didn't understand a word of Romanian, but when the boy came across the word Dumnezeu (God), he looked up at me and smiled. I had the sense that he had heard about God at camp and was now delighted to own a book where he could learn more about him at home.«

Participant Michelle shares: »We also had the chance to visit the orphanage run by our AVC partners. The lovingly run home, with its peaceful atmosphere, felt to me like a piece of heaven on earth. An older couple cares for 15 children there with great devotion, while praying for someone to carry on their work. The children welcomed us with open hearts. One girl in our group spotted a child in a photo whom she'd met earlier at the kids' camp and instantly connected with. She learned that this girl's greatest wish was simply to have a friend, since she often felt very lonely. So the two exchanged contact information to keep their friendship going. That moved all of us deeply.«
