Land of contrasts
Rainforest. The high mountains of the Andes. Desert. Three regions, rich in contrast, run through the country from north to south. As varied as the climate, flora and fauna are, there are some common factors: corruption, indifference, ignorance and violence, none of which can be solved by the nation’s religious traditions, superstitions or magic. The consequences are family breakdown, unemployment, alcohol and drug abuse. Armed robbery is the order of the day.

Change on the coast
In the absolutely rainless rocky and sandy desert of the coastal area south of Lima lies the seaport of Ilo, close to the border to Chile. In 1996, on behalf of AVC, the Fröschle family founded the first kindergarten.
Moulding a new generation
The kindergarten, which started out with 30 children, was later supplemented by a primary school. In 1998, a Christian church simultaneously began which has now grown to 250 members.

Education across generations
In 2003, the kindergarten and the Bethesda School were able to move into a new building. The school is very popular in the city due to its high standards. In addition to the obligatory curriculum, English, German, IT, folklore, art and Christian values are taught. The children – together with their parents – are thereby motivated to look beyond their limited horizons. The younger generation is formed differently to before, inspiring hope for a better future. In this way, whole families get a new outlook on life.
The good news of Jesus Christ changes entire families and with them society. Messed-up marriages are restored, people are set free from alcohol and drugs, and new goals are pursued. Christian values such as respect for God and people, faithfulness, honesty and a sense of responsibility have today become decisive factors that influence the city.
